CDS (II) 2021 result for the written exam will be announced in December 2021. Candidates who will appear for the exam on November 14 will be able to check their results from the official website. UPSC will release CDS (II) result 2021 roll number-wise as well as name-wise in PDF form. Based on the performance of candidates in the written, they will be called for SSB Interview. The candidature of all candidates who will qualify in the written exam will be provisional. They are required to submit the original certificates in support of their age, educational qualification, etc. The marksheet of candidates who will not qualify in the written exam will be made available within 15 days from the date of publication of final result of OTA.

CDS (I) result 2021 was announced on March 23 by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). A total of 6552 candidates have qualified the written exam of CDS, conducted on February 7, 2021. CDS result 2021 has been made available on the official website in PDF form. The result displays the roll numbers and names of the qualified candidates. On the basis of CDS 2021 result for the written exam, candidates have been selected for SSB Interview. 

CDS (I) 2020 Result 

CDS (I) 2020 marks of non-recommended candidates was released by UPSC as per its disclosure scheme. The scores of non-recommended candidates are available in PDF form. It displays candidates’ name, roll number, category, father’s name, date of birth, community, gender educational qualification, total marks, address and email ID.

Earlier, CDS (I) 2020 marks of recommended candidates were released. The marks PDF displayed the candidate’s name, roll number, marks obtained in written exam, SSB interview, final total marks, and date of birth. CDS (I) 2020 final result for  Officers Training Academy (OTA) was announced on May 24. A total of 147 candidates had qualified for final selection based on the result of the written exam and interview. The result of medical examination was not been taken into consideration for preparing the final merit list. 

CDS (II) 2020 Result

CDS (II) 2020 marks of recommended candidates have been released. The marks have been made available on the official website in PDF form. The marks PDF comprises roll number, name, scores obtained in written exam & SSB interview, date of birth and final score. UPSC had announced CDS (II) 2021 final result for Officers’ Training Academy (OTA) on October 1. A total of 192 candidates were recommended for appointment. Out of these, 141 candidates were recommended for Officers Training Academy, Chennai, for 114th Short Service Commission Course (NT) (for Men), and 51 candidates were recommended for Officers Training Academy, Chennai, 28th Short Service Commission Women (Non-Technical) Course, commencing in October 2021. CDS II 2020 final result was announced on July 16 for IMA, INA and AFA. A total of 129 candidates had qualified the exam.

CDS Exam Pattern 2021: Phases Of CDS II

CDS Exam Pattern For Written Test

CDS exam pattern for the Written Examination for admission to Indian Naval Academy, Indian Military Academy and Air Force Academy will include three subjects, namely, Elementary Mathematics, English and General Knowledge. However, admission to Officer’s Training Academy will only have two subjects namely English and General Knowledge. Elementary Mathematics is not included in the CDS exam pattern of OTA.

Important Points Regarding CDS II Exam Pattern 2021

  1. Mode of Examination: UPSC CDS II is conducted in the offline mode, which means the candidates must fill the provided OMR sheet using black ball pen.
  2. Type of Questions: The questions are of objective type, which means each question will come with choices and candidates will have to select the right one.
  3. Total Marks: Each section contains 100 marks and since IMA, INA  and AFA has three subjects the totals marks for them is 300. OTA contains only 2 sections, so the maximum marks for Officer’s Training Academy are 200.
  4. Time duration: The total time duration for each section is 2 hours.
  5. Negative Marking: Each question in the CDS Written Exam carries 1 mark. There is negative marking of 1/3 for every wrong answer.

CDS Exam Pattern and Syllabus: SSB Interview

Shortlisted candidates who qualify in the CDS exam written test will be called for the next phase of the selection process – SSB Interview (Intelligence and Personality Test). In order to receive a call up for the SSB Interview candidates must register themselves on the recruiting directorate website at This phase will be conducted by the Service Selection Board (SSB). The SSB Interview for INA, IMA, and AFA will be conducted for 300 marks whereas, for OTA, the total marks is 200. The SSB Interview will most likely be conducted in allocated SSB centres (will be mentioned in the SSB Interview call letter) for over a period of 5 days. Candidates will have to appear in any one of the centres for the SSB Interview.

CDS Exam Pattern 2020 For SSB Interview Stage 1

Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) will be conducted on the day of the SSB Interview. This will involve a Picture Perception and Description Test (PP & DT) wherein candidates will be shown a picture for 30 seconds. Post 30 seconds, candidates will be given 4 minutes to write about the picture. Then several groups of 15 members will be formed to discuss and arrive at a conclusion regarding the picture. Based on the discussion and conclusion, the officer will rate your intelligence skills. Only those who clear this round will be eligible to appear for Stage 2.

CDS Exam Pattern 2020 For SSB Interview Stage 2

This stage will be organized for four days followed by stage-1 selection. Stage II Comprises of Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. A variety of tests and activities are conducted in this round through which the personality of the candidates is judged. Three different officials namely Interviewing Officer (IO), a Group Testing Officer (GTO) and a Psychologist will be rating you based on your performance in the tests held. Additionally, marks for Conference are allotted based on the candidate’s initial performance in the three techniques and decision of the Board.

The Psychological Test will include the following:

The various Group Activities include:

Final selection of candidates will be made based on their performance in Stage 2 of SSB Interview.
