The Indian Air Force conducts the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) twice a year to select suitable candidates for Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officers in the Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches. Educational Qualification
- Flying Branch: Candidates must have a minimum of 50% marks in Maths and Physics at the 10+2 level. They should possess a graduation degree with a minimum of three years or a BE/B Tech degree with at least 60% marks or equivalent.
- Ground Duty (Technical) Branch: Candidates should have scored a minimum of 50% marks in Maths and Physics at the 10+2 level. They must possess a four-year degree in Engineering/Technology or have cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India.
- Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch: The educational qualification varies for different sub-branches within this category. Refer to the official AFCAT 1 2024 Notification for detailed eligibility criteria. Nationality Candidates must be Indian citizens as per the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955.
AFCAT 1 2024 Selection Process
The selection process for AFCAT 1 2024 consists of three stages:
- Written Test: Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will appear for an online written exam. The exam will consist of 100 questions and will carry a maximum of 300 marks. The duration of the exam will be 2 hours.
- AFSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates from the written test will be called for the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) Interview. The interview will assess the candidates’ suitability for a career in the Indian Air Force.
- Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the AFSB Interview will undergo a medical examination to ensure they meet the medical standards set by the Indian Air Force.
How to Apply for AFCAT 1 2024
To apply for AFCAT 1 2024, follow these steps:
- Visit the official AFCAT website at www.afcat.cdac.in.
- Click on “Candidate Login” and then on “NOT YET REGISTERED. REGISTER HERE” to create your account.
- Fill in the required details and complete the registration process.
- Log in with your registered email ID and password.
- Fill in the AFCAT 1 application form with personal, educational, and communication details. Upload the required documents, including a recent photograph, signature, and thumb impression.
- Choose your preferred exam city and agree to the declaration.
- Pay the application fee online.
- Review the application form and submit it.
- Download and print a copy of the application form for future reference.
AFCAT 1 2024 Application Fees
The application fee for AFCAT 1 2024 is Rs. 550 (plus GST) for candidates applying for the AFCAT entry. However, candidates applying for NCC Special Entry are exempted from paying the application fee.
